By turns journalist, copywriter, content manager, senior producer, project manager and consultant, today Dan earns his keep as a marketing consultant at Quarry Integrated Communications in Waterloo, Ontario. In this role he draws on a wide range of professional experience and a career at the forefront of web innovation.

A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Dan moved to Toronto’s Bay Street in 1997 to work as a copywriter for Franklin Templeton Investments. He drove the development of new campaign materials to support the launch of a new series of segregated funds. In 1999, California was calling and Dan transferred from Franklin’s Toronto office to their San Mateo headquarters.

With San Francisco and the Silicon Valley afire with dot com energy, Dan was compelled to join a start-up founded by a group of CNN veterans called MyPrimeTime, owners of one of the top 100 trafficked websites, myprimetime.com. Here Dan headed up a content division responsible for producing articles, video segments and interactive TV programs. Promoted to Senior Producer, Dan managed a production crew of 10 with co-management responsibilities for another group of 20. This role also saw him take on responsibility for search engine optimization, content syndication, e-newsletters, contextual e-commerce, and an innovative search engine that integrated video, articles, message boards, and chat.

In 2002, Dan headed back to the Toronto area to assume a position at Quarry Integrated Communications, where he remains today. He began this engagement as a project manager working with clients such as FedEx, BDO Dunwoody, Bell, Cendant, and Philips. In this capacity Dan brought together project teams featuring experts from several disciplines including interaction design, creative services, application development, IT, and public relations.

Recent years have seen Dan morph his role to that of a senior consultant. In this capacity he acts as lead consultant on all search engine optimization projects and pay-per-click campaigns. He consults with clients on e-business issues, specializing in web strategy, content strategy, search engine optimization, and content management practices.

Dan regularly publishes articles in several publications including the Sydney Morning Herald, The Globe & Mail, Marketingprofs.com, About.com and BizTech magazine.
